Yes, our trays are not historic, but the story of the Sandwich is.  The sandwich has come a long way from a hunk of beef and cheese between bread.
“The sandwich as we know it was popularized in England in 1762 by John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich. Legend has it, and most food historians agree, that Montagu had a substantial gambling problem that led him to spend hours on end at the card table. During a particularly long binge, he asked the house cook to ...Read more of post

When the fragrance is a memory, the vessel is a treasure.
Fourteen votives fill out the assortment.
The vessel styles are our favorite well-known porcelain patterns. We use high quality wax and 100% palm free vegetable oil with a smoke free burn.  Each porcelain pattern is matched with a scent. The best votive is one that becomes a liquid pool that wafts fragrance gently over time.  We formulated these scents with the famed Vila Hermanos candle producers of ...Read more of post

Enjoy one of our best loved designs with our porcelain tray that exactly fits our guest soap.  ( We call it a guest soap for its small yet it is ample enough).   This sensual and brilliant soap is a pure delight, combining the intensity of blooming rose, jasmine and tart cassis with Damascus plum and white peach.  A base of golden sandalwood and liquid amber completes this unique formulation.
We traveled to Vermont to a fine soap manufacturer and ...Read more of post

Holidays and family meals are better with gravy, say we.  It can be a cocunut milk and curry sauce, or something to go with the poultry or beef to name a few types.  Our grandmother used to kid us and say "Please pass the grease."  This is not your grandmothers's dinnerware, however, because Indigo Wave was created by Mottahedeh in 2003 by using an antique rim soup bowl collected by Mrs. Mottahedeh as inspiration and then the various elements of ...Read more of post

Pizza- no sauce! Who thinks they would like to grow up to become a food stylist?  Our own, Paul, @Pauliedishes has already achieved his dream, but we don't think this started when he was a child.  If you can't resist sculpting the butter at the dinner table or finding new directions for the mashed potatoes, making a delicate rose out of a radish, you are probably safe in that regard.  We think the key to the most beautiful result  is to put your ...Read more of post

At Mottahedeh we generally opt for lots of bold color with a style that is not shy.  On the opposite end of the spectrum, white creamware made of faience, or soft paste porcelain, is our other love. Creamware has been in the offering for more than forty years.  Many times, the original has been French, and yet we make ours in Italy as the craftsmanship is exceptional and historic. Faience can be made into shapely forms with lots of detail.
Here is our ...Read more of post

Mottahedeh brings a high quality approach to fine stoneware.  Glossy reactive glazes present beautiful color variations and a skeleton leaf image is fused delicately into the glaze.  With four colorways to choose from, the tableware pieces can be inter-mixed.  This special technique requires two firings rather than the typical one for stoneware. Our product is produced at the esteemed Vista Alegre Factory in Portugal. Find it under Milestone By Mottahedeh....Read more of post

ime to lighten the table with these gorgeous Mottahedeh Blue Torquay plates!

Clinging to the coast of Devon in southern England was the elegant resort town of Torquay, renowned for its mild climate and its abundant marine life. The shells and entwined sea grasses inspired the Swansea potters who flourished between 1764 and 1846.This pattern was created circa 1820.
