“Let them eat cake” is the most famous quote attributed to Marie-Antoinette, the queen of France during the French Revolution. Because cake is more expensive than bread, the anecdote has been cited as an example of Marie-Antoinette’s obliviousness to the conditions and daily lives of ordinary people. But did she ever actually utter those...Read more of post

We are enjoying these fresh picked off the tree In the Prosperity Bowl from the Mount Vernon collection. Mount Vernon, George and Martha Washington's family estate, licensed this lovely design. The Washington's had a deep affinity for stoneware and creamware and used it extensively. Salt -glazed fragments excavated from the grounds were replicated in great detail for this pattern. The most well known style of the period, English Staffordshire stoneware was popular by ...Read more of post

Legend has it, and most food historians agree, that Montagu had a substantial gambling problem that led him to spend hours on end at the card table. During a particularly long binge, he asked the house cook to ...Read more of post

Enjoy one of our best loved designs with our porcelain tray that exactly fits our guest soap.  ( We call it a guest soap for its small yet it is ample enough).   This sensual and brilliant soap is a pure delight, combining the intensity of blooming rose, jasmine and tart cassis with Damascus plum and white peach.  A base of golden sandalwood and liquid amber completes this unique formulation.
We traveled to Vermont to a fine soap manufacturer and ...Read more of post

Holidays and family meals are better with gravy, say we.  It can be a cocunut milk and curry sauce, or something to go with the poultry or beef to name a few types.  Our grandmother used to kid us and say "Please pass the grease."  This is not your grandmothers's dinnerware, however, because Indigo Wave was created by Mottahedeh in 2003 by using an antique rim soup bowl collected by Mrs. Mottahedeh as inspiration and then the various elements of ...Read more of post

ime to lighten the table with these gorgeous Mottahedeh Blue Torquay plates!
